Most Sunday-morning stress doesn’t come from technical failures. It comes from unclear transitions, unanswered questions, and assumptions that everyone’s on the same page… when they’re not. That’s why one of the most effective habits in your Sunday routine takes just 10 minutes: a pre-service huddle.
A short huddle gives your entire team of production leaders, volunteers, worship members, and pastors a shared understanding of what’s about to happen.
What to cover in your huddle:
Service flow & transitions
Walk through the order of service
Call out key transitions between songs, sermon, and response
Note anything different or new this week
People & responsibilities
Who’s doing what (especially volunteers)
Highlight any new volunteers and where they’re training
Who’s responsible for physical transitions (props, podiums, microphones, etc.)
Announcements & moments
What announcements are happening?
Any moments that need special timing or emphasis?
Production cues
Lighting changes
Verbal cues or handoffs
Anything production needs to be ready for that isn’t obvious on the slides
If you’re looking for a single habit that makes Sundays calmer, clearer, and more focused, start here. Ten minutes. One huddle. A much smoother Sunday.
