What is ProVideoSync?

ProVideoSync (PVS) is the only dedicated multi-stream all-in-one video playback solution of its kind. Play two different streams of video simultaneously (including any combination of SD and HD video streams) from one machine in perfect synchronization. For a fraction of the price of a traditional tape-based solution, ProVideoSync streams genuine SDTV or HDTV video through specialized hardware, with adjustable playback set in real-time.

ProVideoSync was designed to help churches effectively recreate their environments quickly and inexpensively in other communities. Traditionally, when churches grow, their tendency is to build larger buildings in an effort to bring more and more people to the church campus. The problem with this is that as your church grows, so does your demographic map from which people are traveling. ProVideoSync is one of a great many tools that can be used to reverse our thinking of bringing 'communities to the church' and instead focus on bringing 'church to the community'... reusing creative resources to impact the lives of more people by recreating the same atmosphere and quality of content which caused them to grow in the first place.

What's the deal with the video church?

At Renewed Vision, we feel passionately about the idea of satellite church campuses. Our church home is North Point Community Church, one of a few churches that have successfully pioneered the idea of the "video campus". Let us provide a little background here for the uninitiated. North Point experienced explosive growth in the first few years of their existence in part because of an exceptionally managed combination of creative staff and volunteers, but also because we were well-funded by a very giving community. The combination of these ingredients made for an extraordinary worship environment that people wanted their friends and family to experience. North Point creates multi-message series throughout the year, typically consisting of 3-6 messages with a common theme. Each of these series include an inordinate amount of creative work, including: the engineering and construction of sets; scripting, shooting, and editing of illustrative sketches; original art work creation; signage; original music; and ancillary effects (such as hot dog stands or newspaper boys at the front of the church for a series theme of Wall Street). This adds tremendous impact and 'bookends' the exceptional sermons that are given at North Point, but after the series is over, the investment on these materials is lost. Apart from the residual CDs and DVDs our congregants used to share with friends and family, the assets that create that complete experience (NOT just the message, but the entire experience from the moment you walk in the door until you leave), was lost.

So called 'video church' venues allow churches the opportunity to maintain and export the messages, artwork, and creative ideas of the "big" church to other campuses... reaching a larger and broader base of people. Some may consider it modern-day missionary work as we are creating environments... complete immersive experiences, that allow people to open their hearts and minds to embrace the truth of the Gospel.

How does ProVideoSync help to make this happen?

ProVideoSync is primarily one of many tools used to recreate environments through video to different geographical locations at an affordable price. When a speaker steps up to talk, we begin recording both the traditional IMAG shots that your congregation sees on screens within your sanctuary, but also a wide fixed, High-Definition of the stage. These two 'views' of the message can be copied to one inexpensive hard drive and delivered to your remote campuses. At the remote campus, a volunteer simply plugs the hard drive into a ProVideoSync playback system and with one click of the "Play" button, both videos playback in perfect synchronization. Unlike tape, which can drift, the messages stay in-sync the entire time. If there is any latency between the signals, the operator need only click clearly-worded buttons labeled "This Video is Ahead", present for each video stream, to bring the two videos back in-sync in real time, without the audience knowing there was even a problem. There is no need to buy incredibly expensive HD playback decks and worry about time-syncing two different decks. With one hardware/software solution ProVideoSync saves your organization a great deal of time, money, and complicated set-up.

Wouldn't this be better if it was broadcast live to the remote sites?

A quick note about live vs. time delayed video between campuses. We believe that a time delayed solution if far better than trying to pipe in live video from a main campus. Why? Because the content of the message isn't affected by time (we are talking about the timeless truths of the gospel here, not a sporting event) and the cost and complexity of a live broadcast solution is very significant. Further, a broadcast solution relies of numerous outside service providers, any one of which can be a point of failure. In our experience, it's not a matter of if, but when there is going to be a hiccup in the process leaving your remote campus without the live feed. This kind of interruption can be more than a little distracting. In addition, to achieve a quality in a broadcast mechanism that equals that of a time-delayed methodology would cost inordinate amounts of money. We appreciate the intention of making people feel more in touch with the main campus, but not at this expense. For far less money, complexity, and risk, ProVideoSync can achieve high-quality results.

Also, consider that the purpose of the remote campus is to serve the community in which the campus exists. By time-delaying messages using ProVideoSync, you give the pastoral leadership team at these remote campuses the flexibility of programming their services around the community in which they serve.

Turnkey solution
